Question by vmherman@sbcglobal.net: I received a letter from CA of an old debt that was more than 10 years ago. How should I handle this?
I am not sure if I should wait to see what happens or if I should send them a letter. By law, this old debt is beyond the statute of limitations. Also, the creditor that sent me the letter is known to be a (zombie collector) that buys old accounts for pennies. I found this information on the internet. My worst fear is for this CA to report or restart this old debt as a new debt on my credit report.

Answer by jeanieoly2000don't respond to it. they can't collect after 10 years unless you say its yours. if you respond to it they can
